The Manifesto!
Havurah is the bearer of a new Jewish renaissance.
We are a collective of young Jewish artists, painters, writers, poets, musicians, filmmakers, photographers, and creative souls of all kinds in New York City, ushering in a new generation of artistry.
Our movement arrives at a moment in American Jewry when artistic pursuits are not considered to be integral to religious life. At Havurah, we are reclaiming a Jewish tradition tracing back to Bezalel that sees art as a mechanism for engaging with the divine and, consequently, as crucial to spiritual practice. We believe that every Jewish society needs to foster the artistic inclination in order to enrich the spiritual lives of its members.
With these principles in our hearts, we aspire to:
Establish a community for Jewish artists in New York City to meet, converse, and collaborate with one another
Invigorate a generation of young Jews and restore the Jewish artistic impulse
Showcase and publicize the works of talented Jewish artists
Meet us at the corner of poet and prophet.

Verklempt! is our quarterly printed Magazine of Jewish Art and Literature. Being distributed worldwide, Verklempt! is an unparalleled feat in the world of Contemporary Jewish Art.

The Havurah Journal is our blooming virtual Beit Medrish of Jewish Artistic thought. The Journal publishes everything from Art Vorts to interviews with emerging Jewish artists. Read Here.

Eitan Gutenmacher
Co-Founder, Creative Director
Eitan Gutenmacher is currently studying the intersection of Design and Religion at NYU Gallatin. He believes a Jewish artistic revolution is imperative for the Jewish future, community life, and perhaps Mashiach. Eitan returned to New York City after a year of studying Jewish thought and Talmud at Yeshivat Orayta in Jerusalem. Eitan spends his free time designing for Israel at New Zionist Congress.

Daniella Messer
Co-Founder, Executive Director
Daniella is currently studying social work (NYU ‘25) and is an aspiring chef. She’s a member of the Phi Alpha Honor Society and serves as Director of the Initiative Fund for NYU’s Student Government Association. In her free time, Daniella loves to make elaborate dishes from scratch.

Lindsay LeBoyer
Chair of Art
Lindsay LeBoyer is an independent curator and writer from New York. She credits her Jewish upbringing with sparking an interest in rituals and symbolism that eventually translated into a love of art. Lindsay lives in Brooklyn with her rescue dog, Pluto, who is a mensch.

Yoni Gutenmacher
Literary Director, Editor-In-Chief
Yoni Gutenmacher is a fiction writer from Queens, NY who enjoys constructing crosswords, learning Talmud, watching Seinfeld, and reading novels. He graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in 2021 with a B.A. in English and Computer Science and currently works as a software engineer. Aside from fiction, Yoni also writes essays, poetry, satire, and screenplays. He is working on his first novel and will be attending Brooklyn College’s MFA program beginning in the fall of 2022.

David Gutenmacher is a photographer and filmmaker from Queens, New York. He is a Social Media Manager by day and, in his free time, operates the Museum of Lost Memories. When he's not taking pictures or returning lost memories, David loves to travel, go thrifting, and study Jewish genealogy.

Leah Dunn
Music Director
Leah Dunn is an indie rock singer-songwriter from Northern California. An alumna of Interlochen Academy, Dunn is set to graduate in ’25 from New York University where she is currently in the Clive Davis Institute of Recorded Music honing her audio engineering and production skills. She is releasing a song per month for all of 2022, following her first record ‘Wetsuit’ in 2020.
